EVALUATIONS:

When is it?

Evaluation DATES and TIMES are announced via Email, Facebook, and Posted on website.   Generally multiple evaluation days are listed to allow parents the flexibility to schedule and choose a time that works best.   You only need to attend 1 evaluation time period for the League you are in.

What is it for?

Evaluations are for unknown players to show off their stuff similar to a "TRYOUT" so coaches can draft and we can even the talent out among all teams in the league. ITS ONLY AN EVALUATION NOT A TRYOUT!  Unlike a tryout, there is no pressure or need to do well at all. NO matter what happens enrolled players are guaranteed to be drafted to a team after the evaluation.   * note: If you are on the WAITLIST you are not yet enrolled... attending evaluations as a waitlist player allows you to move up line over those enrolled players who do not attend.

Who should attend?

FOR THIS YEAR 2025 SEASON We are asking ALL PLAYERS TO ATTEND A TALENT EVALUATION NIGHT TO BE SIZED FOR UNIFORMS! as we have an new vendor and we want to eliminate sizes from registration process.

ROOKIE PLAYERS will be drafted via Random draw. so there is no Talent Evaluation portion for them.

ONLY IF you are a NEW, or ADVANCING player,  [ NEW = a players first time in Scott Co. Basketball  /  ADVANCING =  players that are moving up to next league]  you need to attend an Evaluation time.    (example a new player to basketball,   or a previous Rookie league Player who will move up and Play Bantam league this year.)

IF you are a WAITLISTED player or player wanting to play, attending Evaluation night assures that your eligible to be drafted.  **(even if you are a returning Player to same league with existing team, **IF YOU ARE marked WAITLISTED** please attend evaluations) waitlisted players may or may not return to the previous team.

NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND IF you are a RETURNING player  to the same league as last year and are officially Enrolled. "not waitlisted"    Example a Rookie in Kindergarten last year on MAVERICKS team,  would return this year as Rookie 1st Grader.  Since he is enrolled THIS player will return to the MARVERICKS team automatically upon enrollment. There is no need to attend talent evaluations.  (these are the only players that don't need evaluation,  "enrolled" & "returning" same league players.

IF YOU ARE STILL UNSURE IF YOU SHOULD ATTEND EVALUATIONS... PLEASE ATTEND  (it does not hurt to attend and we can answer any questions then face to face and its fun for kids to do skills challenge with friends!)

What if I cannot attend or don't attend evaluation time?

NEW Players that are enrolled,  & WAITLISTED players  that DO NOT attend any evaluation time,   are moved to the bottom of the Lists, behind those players that do show up for evaluations.  This is because the coaches must draft from the talent pool that is available, and by not attending evaluations, we cannot assess the talent level to be drafted correctly.

FAILURE TO BE SIZED FOR UNIFORM WILL RESULT IN NO UNIFORM PURCHASE AND PLAYER POSSIBLY RETURNING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST OR NOT DRAFTED.

What will players do for EVALUATIONS?

We will have 2 lines... One line for Uniform Sizing and another Line for Evaluation.

Players being evaluated will take a number, line up in the gym and individually perform a few simple skill drills so that all new coaches can evaluate each players talent.   Once the Player completes the skills drill you are free to leave.   The drills are simple layups, dribble, Free Throw,  pass & shoot.

What is after Evaluation?

Draft Day will occur after all scheduled evaluation times are completed.  Once your player is drafted to a team, you will be contacted by the coach on that team letting you know which team and practice time you will be assigned.
